Junk Removal in Tottenville, Staten Island, NY

Tottenville is a neighborhood in Staten Island, NY, and is on the South Shore on the island.

The first settlement of Tottenville was made in 1671. The community was initially known as “Concord.” In 1866, it became one of Staten Island’s earliest suburbs, and subsequently its first incorporated village. The name comes from early landowner Richard Totten. At one time, Tottenville was called “the village of laughing waters“, because of the many freshwater springs in the area. The springs attracted summer vacationers from New York City, and later Tottenville became a seaside resort community.

At one time, Tottenville extended eastward to Raritan Bay; however much of this land has been reclaimed through landfills.

Tottenville has two sections: Old Town, and West Shore (which developed later).
