Dongan Hills is located in Staten Island, New York City. To the north of the neighborhood is Silver Lake and south of it is Grant City. Other neighborhoods that border Dongan Hills are Todt Hill and Princes Bay. The neighborhoods of Grymes Hill, Emerson Hill, and Sunnyside lie to the west while Westerleigh is located to the east.

Products from Dongan Hills made their way into homes across Staten Island when Bettex Pharmaceuticals was headquartered in the neighborhood for over 20 years. The Bettex pharmaceutical company shut down in 2000, but the building was bought by an investment firm soon after.
Dongan Hills is filled with many notable places that are popular among its residents including the Dongan Hills branch of The New York Public Library. It is one of four libraries on Staten Island and offers a wide range of services to its patrons including books, magazines, and DVDs to check out.
Bus routes service the area and the Staten Island Railway is accessible at Huguenot Station, which is located in nearby Prince’s Bay.
One of Staten Island’s most visited parks, Silver Lake Park, is also located near Dongan Hills making it an ideal neighborhood for those who enjoy outdoor activities or would like to spend a day at a nearby park.
Tysens Lane lies within Dongan Hills and many residents use this as their main shopping area. Tysens Lane is a strip mall that contains many different establishments including Dunkin Donuts, several clothing stores, and a C-Town supermarket.
The Pearl River Mart is located near Dongan Hills and residents from this neighborhood shop there often for their variety of Asian products or dine at one of the Chinese restaurants inside of the mart.
Students who live in Dongan Hills can attend PS 44, which is located in the neighborhood and serves students from Pre-K through 8th grade.
